I love Sundays. One of the reasons why is that I can have lunch with my family on that day.

Two weeks ago, my brother asked me if I wanted to eat at Melo’s. My sister gave her a Melo’s gift certificate worth 1,000 PhP last Christmas and it was about to expire. Of course, I said yes. He reserved a table for two (reservation is needed) on a Sunday.

Melo’s at Burgos Circle

It was a nice and sunny Sunday. We decided to take an Uber to Burgos Circle than bring a car for convenience’s sake.

Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing that popped into my mind was that this place didn’t have to require a reservation — there were no diners! We were lead to a completely set up table.

Complete set of utensils!

A few minutes passed by and a group came in. I realized that Jose Mari Chan was in that group! I’m a big fan!

My jaw dropped when I saw the menu. The gift certificate that we had couldn’t even cover a steak for one! The most affordable one on the menu was the T-Bone steak at 208 PhP / ounce. The usual cut is at 12 ounces. At 2,500 PhP, it was too much for me.

We spent a good amount of time looking at the menu. I was convincing myself to splurge but I really couldn’t. My brother and I ended up ordering Melo’s Specialty Angus burger. It seemed like a fair deal at 780 PhP for an 8 ounce patty.

The order came with asparagus soup which I found quite delicious.

The soup was thick and the consistency was smooth. Taste-wise, it was not salty which is how I like my soup. A bit peppery but I loved it.

As for the burger, I asked them to cook it medium well. I loved the burger! I mean, it’s not what Melo’s is known for but it’s very good.

The patty was really juicy. I am not sure what they mixed in it but I’m glad the beefy taste was prominent. I didn’t touch the fries though.

We had a good lunch. Pity that we’re too poor to savor their steaks… Probably next time.

We look happy with our food, right? I might come back for the burger because I really enjoyed it. I will order the smaller serving though.
