I couldn’t blame people if they would see me as someone who wouldn’t function by myself. Come on, I always have friends around me wherever I go. In reality though, I actually enjoy moments that I spend alone. Not that I don’t like being with friends, it’s just that I also need some moments wherein I can think without anyone suddenly interrupting me.
Last Thursday, my lunch buddy and office best friend Mars was on an emergency leave. She had to accompany her cousin in Cavite so she didn’t come to work. At around lunch time, I messaged a friend of mine and asked her if she wanted to have lunch. Sadly though, she had something to finish so I had no choice but to have lunch alone.
While on my way down the office building, I was thinking where I can eat wherein people wouldn’t care that I’m eating alone. I decided to head to Earle’s Delicatessen in Greenbelt 1 since I was sure that my co-workers wouldn’t go there for lunch.
When I got there, I checked their sandwiches and decided to get their Classic Italian Sandwich. I also had my order upgraded to a meal so my sandwich came with iced tea and potato chips.
Look at that sandwich! Layers and layers of smoked beef salami, smoked pizza pepperoni, honey ham, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, onions. The quality of their deli’s top notch and you can buy them on their own by the kilo. The sandwich is PhP 145.00, not bad, right? I really love Earle’s Sandwiches.
After my finishing my meal, I realized that I still have more than 30 minutes left from my lunch time. I headed to Caffe Ti-Amo to grab some Italian gelato for dessert.
Most of you know that I’m fond of anything milky, chocolate-y, caramel-y, or nutty so it’s not surprise that I ordered Dulce de Leche and Peanut Butter. Caffe Ti-amo has many flavors to choose from but not as much as Gelatissimo’s.
Their gelato’s really nice and creamy. The texture was smooth though I think Gelatissimo’s smoother. For PhP 95.00, I already got two big scoops of gelato.
It took a while before I was able to finish my gelato. I was eating very slowly since I was thinking about a lot of things. Reflecting? Probably. I think that the crew of Caffe Ti-Amo noticed that I was staring blankly towards their direction but I wasn’t actually looking at anyone of them.
After finishing my cup of gelato, I headed back to the office. My alone time was short but sweet.
