Hectic, that’s how my life is right now. It actually shows in the scarcity of entries in this journal of mine.
So what has been occupying my time lately? Well, mostly office stuff. I’m so into working that I bring home work. Just last Tuesday, I spent the whole day (and night) doing Stream programming. Last Tuesday was a holiday… Am I a workaholic? I don’t think so. I do love working.
Anyway, just an update with my confusing professional life. I’m now an IBM InfoSphere Streams developer! It’s actually an exciting technology and it’s one of the reasons why I’m hyped up on working. I’ll be working on a project in Globe Telecoms starting next week and I’m really looking forward to it. Want to know more about Streams? Google’s your friend.
So what happened to FileNet? It took a back seat. I even passed up on an IBM Technical Session on FileNet. I am undergoing WebSphere Application Server 7.0 training right now since I’ll be using it with FileNet.
Okay, I’m bringing my workaholic-ness to my journal. NEXT.
Since I’ve been immersing myself into too much work stuff, my self-study of Mandarin has been on and off as well. I’m seriously considering enrolling myself in Confucius Institute next year so I will be more focused on learning the language. Ni hao!
I am not sure if I have mentioned this before but I really love taking photos. I used to have a digital camera, but sadly, it gave up on me. After taking more than 10,000 photos, it died. So it is no surprise that one of the items in my imaginary “to-buy” list as a young professional is a good digital camera. And now, I am super close on crossing out that entry in the list. I have been seriously researching on which camera to buy. Initially, I was targeting the Panasonic Lumix TZ10, but when I started reading about “pro” point-and-shoot digital cameras, I aimed for higher models. For the past few months, I have been having an internal struggle on which digital camera to get since there are a lot of good “pro” point-and-shoot cameras. Among my considerations were the Canon Powershot S95, Canon Powershot G12, and the Samsung EX1. But I have already decided… I will be getting:
I’ll be getting the Panasonic Lumix LX5. I have read quite a lot of reviews raving about the spectacular performance of this little shooter. (That sounded a little obscene). I hope this one’s good at taking stolen shots! Anyway, this camera will be my first ever Christmas present to myself as a young professional. Haha!
A few months ago, I have ‘decided’ that my Christmas present to myself would be a black Nintendo Wii. Why the sudden change of heart? Well, because I’m going to my first ever trip (with friends) outside of Luzon this December! Yay! My friends and I took advantage of the discounted airfares of Cebu Pacific and got tickets to… CEBU! I’m really excited!
That’s it for now. This journal entry of mine is getting too long.
